Truth in Jest - Animal Rights via Don Piraro -

There's many ways one can bring the issues of Animal Rights into the spotlight... And each advocate uses their talents accordingly.
Hats off to Don Piraro for cleverly revealing the not-so-funny side of animal "use": My way of joking is telling the truth; that is the funniest joke in the world. ~George Bernard Shaw

Old MacDonald had a farm,
E-I-E-I-O.
And on that farm he had a cow,
E-I-E-I-O.
With a “moo, moo” here
And a “moo, moo” there,
Here a “moo”, there a “moo,”
Everywhere a “moo, moo,”
Old MacDonald had a farm,
E-I-E-I-O.

Yep! Those "talking animals"! We sure are indoctrinated from the start aren't we? ;)

we have a right to make proper and humane use of animals, and we have a duty to treat animals properly. There is a moral distinction between animals and human beings.

Well what is the "right"? Based on what? You just can't say "I have the *right* to (fill in the blanks)" without something to back that "right" up with. What is your "right" predicated on?

And please, we've already established the lack of "NEED" for animal products - You must base this "right" on something other than one syllable grunts like "food".

***********************************
The "moral distinctions" between humans and nonhumans is irrelevant here... We are not asked to "sacrifice" ourselves for the betterment of animals simply by not harming them.

It isn't a matter of "them or us".

And it seems that if man IS the species who can determine the morality of causing harm - He is the species that should USE that faculty.

What you're saying is that since we know right from wrong, we are priledged to do wrong. I totally disagree.

bye.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - In a small southwest Alaska village where natives have forever lived side-by-side with wild animals, the fatal mauling of a schoolteacher by wolves has shattered an uneasy co-existence.

Now, villagers in Chignik Lake say, parents are keeping an extra-close eye on their children and residents make sure to take their rifles and guns when they venture outdoors.

“It’s scary. People are afraid,” said Virginia Aleck, 66, a village elder. “It’s just something we’re just going to have to adjust to, but the sense of trust with a wild animal is totally going to be different.”
Who's afraid of the big bad wolf, I bet you think they are just the sweetest things don't you? School teacher out jogging attacked and killed by the big bad wolf, I wonder if she was on her way to grandma's house. Must be she wasn't indoctrinated from the start or maybe she was a vegan and didn't think the cute little animals would hurt her.

Of course I'm not saying that humans should not protect their lives when they are at risk from a "wild animal"... These are totally different circumstances than enslaving billions of harmless, herbivore creatures to eat. In this instance - Then it is we who are the "wolves"... The biggest predator of them all against the most helpless, innocent creatures.

Can't you distinguish the difference in killing as "necessity" in the case of defense against an attacking wolf, bear or lion... And the needless harm done to "food" animals?

These wolves, bears and lions have no choice but to do as nature intended... WE HAVE A CHOICE - Our killing is done for frivolous whim - Not biological mandate.

Do you see the difference?
