It's The Cucumbers. It's the Tomatoes. It's the Lettuce. It's The Sprouts.

21 Dead in Germany:

The bacterium in question, Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli, or STEC, can cause severe enteric and systemic disease in humans, including hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS, which can lead to kidney failure or death.
World Health Organization

E-coli is commonly found in the lower intestine of warm-blooded organisms.

Let us be clear about one thing. This and every other E. Coli outbreak has at its source bacteria produced by livestock, and spread by the excrement that has entered the water supply used in fruit and vegetable production and/or preparation.

We are poisoning our food at the expense of "growing" meat.

It's no coincidence that the most ethical way to eat is also the most practical.

For the sake of our food system. For the sake of our environment. For the sake of compassion to others... Won't you please explore Vegan options?

Creating one's own veganic garden seems more appealing by the day.

Thank you for pointing out the facts -- that the culprit is ALWAYS the livestock industry (innocent though the animals be) -- lest anyone choose to forget.

blah blah

you have no idea if it's bioengineered

Also, they are currently thinking that one of the workers was contaminated with this ecoli and unhygenic and contaminated all the sprouts.

That means she didn't wash her hands after using the toilet and contaminated the sprouts and gave everyone this antibiotic resistant ecoli which she could have gotten in the hospital.

Another point you're misinforming about. A lot of the ecoli outbreaks have come from wild birds crapping in the fields - geese defecating on the greens, eg. and from human workers not washing hands. If you look at the current GAP, you see a lot of effort to restrict wildlife from fields for this reason.

Great post, it's curious how the media (and authorities) rarely present up front that the contamination always comes from sentient beings. The headlines always suggest "killer" sprouts or something.

"Anonymous" seems disturbed by your postings.

Yep, the real culprit is rarely identified up front. And cowardly trolls always remain anonymous.

How convenient for you.

Such hostility. Why would I want to post my identity to people who have expressed bigotrous and harassing sentiments?

Anyways, I don't have a log in.

My ideas stand on their own.

So much for promoting of freedom of speech. I see that for some people, the idea only works one way.

Toodle-doo. It's been nice knowing ya. I was just looking for some real discourse on how to solve these issues, but it's time to look elsewhere. By the way, I'm a vegan.

Thanks CQ - Always happy to have your input! :)

Yes Anonymous... We hear you. It was the workers. It was the wild birds and geese crapping everywhere. Goodness knows it couldn't possibly be the millions and millions of gallons of feces from livestock --- Heavens no!

Hi veganelder! Yes, it is curious isn't it how it's always those bad, rotten apples causing the whole problem. I gave up listening to MS media a while ago. Obviously you know why too!

Hello Have Gone Vegan - I see you see what I see too! I think I'll leave these (troll) comments up just as a reminder that their opinions merit zero credibility. But may be worthy of a chuckle or two! ;)

But one last thought anonymous...
Free speech is fine - Speech away! But it might help us engage, if some of your thoughts had a bit of substance... Being that your vegan and all - :/
