Celebrating A Thoughtful Holiday - Vegan Style

There's nothing kind in a holiday ham... Nothing happy about a holiday turkey... Nothing sweet in a treat - Made of suffering and death.

But everything is right about a silent night... If we would just EVOLVE!

"Prayer for Animals"
Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals,
especially for animals who are suffering;
for animals that are overworked, underfed and cruelly treated;
for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars;
for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry;
for all that must be put death.
We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity,
and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion
and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals,
and so to share the blessings of the merciful.
- Albert Schweitzer

Happy Celebrations to those who share the gift of kindness! <3

In opting for peace in my heart this Christmas Eve, I chose not to watch the first two videos, once I saw that they would be graphic. Having said that, I realize you provided them, Bea, for people who aren't yet "in the know."

Cheri's story at HumaneMyth and the Evolve Campaigns are just my cup of (herbal) tea! The illustration of evolving humans at the bottom of the latter's home page hit my funny bone, though it's a sadly true commentary on the current condition of the "body of thoughts" today, as manifested in the too many physiques.

Thanks for the Christmas video, with its depiction, in words and images, of God's meek creatures; with its sweet poem; and with its gentle wake-up call.

I echo poet Jenny Moxham's last line: "Celebrate a peace-filled Christmas Day ... not a Christ Mass Murder Day"

And I close my comment with a ditto of Albert Schweitzer's petition: "Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals, and so to share the blessings of the merciful." *

* "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy."
~ Matthew 5:7 KJV

Hello CQ - You're right... The intention of posting the revealing videos are never meant for regular readers who are already in the know. I always hope though that a curious friend or family member - or stranger passes by and learns something "life changing".

I'm glad you continue to find something of value when you visit my cyber "home"... Even though you might have to work through some debris that must remain.

I trust you had a peaceful holiday and thank you for sharing this vision of a better world. <3

Thank you veganelder - I consider your on-line friendship a port in the storm and one of my most treasured gifts... <3

I've known of animal shelter dinners who host this exact same prayer right before digging into their steak...

Hi Packhorse - I know what you mean about animal groups that remain disconnected to the wider sphere of where their good deeds and compassion might be of use. My local ASPCA just had a grilling event --- Hot dogs and burgers - The animal flesh kind. It's really frustrating that they refuse to draw the right conclusions - Even when they're confronted to do so. :(

Anyway --- Thanks for your input and BTW I simply LOVE your site highlighting American Dogs in history! Wow - You did a fantastic job accumulating this data! Just amazing work! I've bookmarked it and will be sure to share with others who will find it of interest. Thanks so much for all you do! ;)
