Round Two - Eating Pigs and Dog - Are Tastebuds Ruling Your Logic? Go Vegan!

Okay... I kid you not - This is an unedited "capture" from this article about the live birthing exhibits at a Nebraska animal "livestock" show.
Now - Exactly what is it that people don't get about the moral dissonance they live under?

Aside from the obvious visual contradiction  this article goes on to say "the birthing pavilion is not just an exhibit, but also an educational experience where the public can get a firsthand look at the birthing process of farm animals, which are the $8 billion-plus lifeblood of Nebraska's agricultural."
We all know the "lifeblood" and economic worth of a "food" animal really only happens at the "processing" stage.  If animal ag really wanted to demonstrate the monetary value of "deadstock" - They'd invite people to get a firsthand look at that event as well!
So- I'll do Nebraska and all animal ag a favor... Here's the "lifeblood" of the industry and it's sheer utter madness:

Now folks... You all should be very certain we don't "need" to do this - There is no compelling "life or death" - No urgent "us or them" situation here.  It is only the frivolous want of tasty sausages that allows these pigs to be slaughtered by the millions... Meanwhile, I wonder and worry to what extreme you all might go to - for your little pound of flesh?

Think about it.  This puppy enjoys his life just as much as the piglet... The puppy once grown, may never become as intelligent as the pig - So what in the world is the difference between munching on either?
After you ponder... And come to the consistent conclusion - Go vegan.

What Happened to Joe Camel? Drome"dairy" - Milk's Big Secret...

A new group of unweaned human adults wants to drink the milk of yet another species... The camel.

Touting claims similar to, and some beyond pushers of "cow's milk" - There seems to be some interest here in the U.S.  There are more than a dozen camel dairies.  And the milk was USDA approved for human consumption in 2009.

I have just two concerns regarding camels milk:
One is that IF "nutrition" is part of the scheme of consumption... Shouldn't humans be drinking hyena milk?  It has 15 times more "protein" than cow's milk... And about 10 times more than camel's milk.  No, probably not... hyenas aren't as docile as camels and cows - They just wouldn't be as easy to exploit...

And that leads me to my second question... Knowing all I that I do about what happens to baby calves in cow dairies... It makes me wonder - What happens to the male camel calves?  The baby "Joe" camels?  Certainly they must be stolen from their mothers - In order for the humans to steal the milk as they do from cow calves.  I'm curious - will they have baby camel igloos and hutches to make a killing from those infant's bodies too?

Ah! But think of the new markets it will open!  Manufacturers of bigger prisons housing and feeding equipment.  And hey!  What about all those slaughterhouses that will have to be redesigned to accommodate for their "humane" slaughter as well!  Quick!  Someone call Ms. Grandin... She's got more animals to design "stairways to heaven" for... Or would these be stairways to Alla?

You Wouldn't Eat a Cat or Dog... What's the Deal with Cows, Pigs & Birds?

From a recent blog entry from the Kansas Grains animal ag site I found this summation about the "Animal Rights Agenda":

Now I'm very certain most people would not be in favor of "breading" our friends! Nor would they approve of marinating cats in oil, onions, spices as what happened to this beautiful tuxedo feline Navarro.  In fact most people were horrified about the intended "cruelty" and disgusted by the idea of cat eating... But what exactly is so different between a cat and a bird?  Or a dog and a pig?

Melanie Joy's book Why We Love Dogs, Wear Cows and Eat Pigs explores this phenomenon and identifies it as "carnism". "Carnism is the name I’ve given to the belief system, or ideology, in which it’s considered ethical and appropriate to eat (certain) animals."  So I suppose all people who eat meat are carnists and in a broader sense, all those who use animals in general are "speciesists".

So... If you use animals - If you eat animals - at least you now know what to tag these nasty habits as...
But if you've done the critical thinking... If you've broken free from archaic ignorance - Take joy to call yourself a:

It's Not Fair - Another Butter Sculpture! Whadda Waste 'O Life!

So I got this photo from this article about the events and exhibits at the Ohio State Fair.

Back in January I gave my opinions on what I thought about "butter sculptures".  And I certainly feel the same now if not more so... But this photo and the article it pertains to leads me to want to say more:

Regarding the photo of these mothers holding their babies and wheeling their toddlers... I'm sure they are convinced that "milk" is a necessary part of their children's diet.  Yet, I'd wager dollars to vegan donuts that not a one of these women actually nourished their own children with their own milk.  It's a safe bet.

Further... I think it's so sad that these many sculptures attempting to show the "wholesomeness" of dairy cost so much in innocent lives.  Of course I refer to the "retired" cows and the stolen "veal" calves.  Knowing this truth about dairy it's easy to see why I find this photo so ironically twisted.

But speaking of mothers... and calves... and fairs - The article goes on to say one of the main attractions is the birthing display.  I suppose that's where people hope to witness the "miracle" of it all... From the artificial insemination right down to the induced labor.  But timing everything "just right" doesn't always work that way, as one veterinarian says, "they don’t always cooperate".  Still no worries!  If one of those pregnant cows gets out of hand you can always shoot her, eleven times...

Isn't it really so totally absurd?  Humans in awe of the "mystery" of life... Yet snatching away newborns from mothers.  Adults still unweaned... Yet drinking from the mammary secretions of an entirely different species!  Anyhow it's a real strange world isn't it?

Oh - And this "agricultural fair"?  If you look real hard at the article you'll find 4 sentences dedicated to a 600 pound pumpkin and a large ear of corn. Hum...

In any case here's my suggestion for next year's "butter sculpture":
