PETA - The Wacky Relative That Sometimes Gets It Right

As I mentioned here almost two years ago I don't often post much from the PETA camp... But I could find nothing in what Ms. Kirk has to say in this video that I disagree with. Can you?

If you do disagree and believe that violence towards nonhumans is acceptable... Please re-examine why you think that. Please question your premises with a critical eye. Please put yourself in the place of that other animal in order to come to a better conclusion. If you refuse to do so... You are a danger to us all.

As often as Herman had witnessed the slaughter of animals and fish, he always had the same thought: in their behavior toward creatures, all men were Nazis. The smugness with which man could do with other species as he pleased exemplified the most extreme racist theories, the principle that might is right.

Animals Who Labor - The Irony Of A Holiday

Labor Day was created in 1884. The first Monday in September was selected as the day to honor the "working man".  This holiday celebrates the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Lots of people take this opportunity to spend a day relaxing under a quiet hammock at home.  Or some go to the beach for a day of playing in the water.

And some take in the boardwalk attractions.

I think it's great to kick back and enjoy the fruits of one's work and toil... Everyone needs that. Just wondering though... The animal ag people make all sorts of inferences that animals must be "productive", and that their "contributions" are vital to us all carnists...

So when do these "essential" animals get a day off? When do they have a 24 hour reprieve from their "duties" and their "job" of supplying dairy, eggs and meat to the blood-hungry masses? We know that the slaughterhouse lines never stop, not for any holiday... So I think it's really ironic that those humans who profess to "benefit" most from the horrific use of these animals don't at least give them

one miserable day off!!! EVER!!!

No one was put here to eat, to wear, to be entertained by, or to be used as a test-subject. Not any day of the year!

Please... Give all animals a holiday everyday.

Taking Lives - And Stealing Milk From Children

"And the calves weren't crying "just like children", calves are children."

This is the profound statement made on the veganelder post: There are none so blind as...

For those who think that it's anthropomorphism to say, consider that even the industry calls the off spring of cows "sons" and "daughters".  And anyone with just a bit of knowledge who understands the maternal imperative knows that indeed... Calves are children.

With the truth in mind we can empathize with the horror of having your baby stolen and the terror of being a stolen child:

But what do the robbers say when their (swiped) "goods" are snitched? Listen to what a dairy/veal operator says after the discovery of some missing 1 month-young calves.

A minute in he says "Right now they're living a pretty good life. From here who knows where they're going." The reporter notes how difficult it must be to get into the "cages". The operator goes on to say that they do their best to keep "these things" fed and well maintained... Then Mike Steward of Hilmar Farmwatch states "They don't care it's a calf. They don't view it as a life. They view it as income. And that's sad." He continues that each calf "is worth" about $600.00. The story concludes that these calves are their future... But it's no secret what the fate is for the calves or their mothers.

In a follow up piece a reporter informs us that the calves are in the cages hutches so as to be "protected from predators and bacteria".  And Hilmar reaffirms the "watch" is on for those baby rustlers!

The crime is obvious because behind him are the mommas searching for their missing babies!
And here are the children plucked and torn from their mothers!

Hilmar was the one that mutilated this youngster's ear... And "tagged" the pirated life as theirs.

Hilmar is the bandit who usurped this baby from his mother and prevented her from nourishing him. The sour products made from her milk may be labeled "Hilmar" but the milk was pillaged nonetheless.

The final truth is that if you support the industries that steal milk, you support the industries that steal children too.

You can do better than that. We all can. We can wean ourselves and let babies stay with their mothers. We can opt for an ethical vegan life. Thanks to all good children on the planet who do.

And we can all also hope that these calves were rescued to live in sanctuary. They would then surely be one of the Lucky Ones.

The Irony of Boxed Bacon and Boxed Pigs

In this most depraved set of conflicted realities there's the ostentatious, limited edition, presentation of parts of a pig carcass delivered in a black velvet box.

There are three "elite" options: As pictured - The Commander, (note the "truth in advertising" disclaimer on the cash), The Matador and The Woodsman. I'll spare readers the narratives of each... For a chuckle you know where to find the pseudo-hyper-masculine bravado and pretentious video launched for this orgy of perverted, self-indulgent excess. (Ancient Rome anyone?)

Meanwhile... We have millions of pigs that live their miserable short lives enslaved in tiny boxes that are lined only with pain and despair.

The Oscar Mayer folks compare their pig-meat to the quality of diamonds citing 4 critical "c's".

Here's my 4 that count more:
Consciousness, Consideration, Care, and Compassion

It is so wrong to treat these innocent pigs so harshly when there are many other kinder options

Unbox your heart... Unbox the pigs... Thank you.

Pimps in Pork Production: Discussing the Disgusting

One of the seedier sides to animal "husbandry" has got to be the sexual manipulation of nonhumans used in the reproduction phase of their enterprise. I hope it's becoming common knowledge about the artificial insemination (AI) of cows in the dairy and "beef" sectors and of turkeys... But on this go 'round I'm here to expose the raping of the females in the making of bacon and "hams".

We know that they are kept in tiny gestation or farrowing crates for most of their lives - But in order to deliver these "production" litters these mother pigs must be kept constantly pregnant. The new goal of the pig industry states that "A more meaningful target for each sow in the herd is to produce at least 40 weaned piglets per lifetime. " And so as a breeding machine - This is her life until that miserable existence is also stolen away.

In the making of these "replacement" piglets a vulgar procedure the industry likes to call "servicing" takes place:

First the sperm is gathered by way of ejaculating the boars- To music no less!

Then there are the Heat Detection and Breeding Procedures - Finding females that can be "serviced" requires some pitifully embarrassing and demeaning practices to not only the "stock" but the harmers as well:
I mean really... Have they no pride? No shame? Aren't they humiliated to do these vile things to victims in order to "bring home the bacon"? It's flesh peddling in the most deplorable sense! Pimping comes to mind!

I'm quite reluctant to post such vulgar images and facts about this industry... But such is the nature of exposing reality for what it is. In the case of making pig-meat and other animal "products" - Discussing the disgusting will continue.

In the meantime please remember there are countless options that don't require the masturbation or raping of others. Keep your dignity and still be well fed:

Not Animal or Human Slaves... The Vegan Brand

We mark'd the slaves [whom] we had bought on the breast or shoulder with a hot iron, having the ship's name on it, the place being before anointed with a little palm oil, which caused but little pain, the mark being usually well in four or five days.

The iron must also be cleaned and reheated before branding another slave...

As you purchase slaves, you must mark them at the upper right arm.

The area of marking must first be rubbed with candle wax or oil; the marker should only be as hot as when applied to paper the paper gets hot...

The surgeon stamps the slave on the right shoulder with an iron which gives him the mark of the shippers and the ship --- it will never come off.

Be sure to tie the slave tight to the branding rack. ... Give Your slave the opportunity to recover from the branding. ...

Branding to the left shoulder, heating the mark red hot and rubbing the part first with a little palm or other oil and taking off the mark pretty quick, and rubbing the place again with oil...

Farm Animal Slaves Need a Job Holiday Too! Labor Day Rest from the Slaughterhouse -

In the past I've heard so often that animals "give" us so much.  And that they work so hard!  From plowing in the fields to giving us the very shirt, I mean "skin" off their backs for us.  I've even seen it in books that tell children what "jobs" animals have:
On the farm, Elsie's "job" is to provide us with milk... Henny's job is to "give" us eggs.  Henry the horse toils pulling the cart of hay to Mr. Wiggles, whose only occupation is seems is to just get fat!

And there's all the others... The donkeys, ducks, rabbits, goats and lambs who all stay very busy too!

So it seems only fair to give these critters a chance to kick up their heels on Labor Day too! How 'bout it animal ag? One day off a year to celebrate (and honor) all their hard work?

Just one day that Ms.Chicken can have straw and get to keep her own egg!
What about letting our lovely Momma Cow romp in the sun with her calf?
How about Mr. Pig... Wouldn't we truly "thank" him to let him out of his cage just once on Labor Day?

YES! One day of rest and play... One day to not be "workers" or tools... One day to not be carted to the slaughterhouses.  Just one tiny day in all the 365 days to not be killed --- After all they "labor" and "sacrifice" so much for us throughout the year.  What do you say animal ag folks and meat makers?
Can't the slaughter lines be stopped for just one day? A few hours maybe? How bout a quick minute or two just to say you tried to be fair to your "employees" who help you "bring home the bacon"?

Happy Labor Day to the slaves who work and die for the meat industry.

HUNTING SECRETS: BAMBI IS A SLAVE TO DEER "CONTROL"

No one need be offended by this photo - "There's no sacrifice. Nothing is being done that is without absolute necessity!" "We need protection from unwanted deer populations! We are innocent... Hunting and killing is just a cruel "fact" of life." Or is it? These guys are obviously not starving. Nor are they far away from civilization. No... these guys tearing at what's left of this innocent being, aren't stranded or isolated either. Poke around... I'm sure there's ATV's, IPODS, GPS, laptops... spotting scopes and high powered rifles/guns, galore! This is not "survival" this is recreation! But these men will say that it is their "tradition" to hunt and that it's "heritage". Yeah, nothing like tearing at flesh to stay in touch with your primordial ancestry! ... with a chrome watch on, at that. Let's face it... these guys like doing this! And they go through great lengths to insure this will remain their privilege. Even to the extent of creating a "problem" to be the solution. The "problem" seems to be this innocent being. Or rather too many innocent beings. The best solution to this "problem" is to just stop breeding more innocent beings! If we don't wish to see them starve... if we need to protect us from them on the highway and on golf courses - Just stop breeding them! If we're worried our malls will be over run with the critters... and if we just can't stop ourselves from claiming every square mile of their habitat... Just stop making more! It's very clear to me... Isn't it to you? But once the cash figures in... it gets different. You see, money is made by breeding these innocent beings.... About $3 billion a year according to the North American Deer and Elk Farming Association. There are more than 15,000 deer breeders, ranchers and farmers in the US. Each facility has about 100 deer and they operate similar to "factory farms". The animals are confined, darted (tagged), given drugs, are artificially inseminated, with buck semen that is also a genetically modified commodity. Fawns are removed from their mothers and nursed on artificial "milk replacements". After they are grown they either enter the "breeding herd" or are released for the "taking" of hunters. Many wind up in "canned hunts" as well. So there is no "necessity" for hunters; except that they can "control" a "problem" they create... all to further their "recreation"! Even the "excuse" of "natural meat" doesnt' work! These animals are pumped full of antibiotics and pharms just like all "agricultural animals" are! These innocent deer are slaves in a self perpetuating killing machine. They are livestock presented as "wildlife". And their sacrifice is condoned by ignorance and greed. Hunting supporters - gig is up! Meat eaters - gig is up... there's thousands of other choices besides cow-pig-chicken slave sacrifices. Finally there's this from the Code of Ethics for Hunting Preserves: Their Global Goal is to "provide the client with a positive and safe hunting experience while ensuring the welfare of the animal." HA! bottle feeding of fawns semen collection & tagging deer
